THE PRAYER OF JABEZ

King James Verision

1 CHRONICLES 4:9-10

And Jabez was more honourable than his brethren:
and his mother called his name Jabez,
saying, because I bare him with sorrow

And Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying,
Oh that thou wouldest bless me indeed,
and enlarge my coast,
and that thine hand might be with me,
and that thou wouldest keep me from evil,
that it may not grieve me.
And God granted him that which he requested

New Living Translation

1 CHRONICLES 4:9-10

There was a man named Jabez who was
more distinguished than any of his brothers.
His mother named him Jabez because his birth had been so painful.

He was the one who prayed to the God of Israel,
“Oh, that you would bless me and extend my lands!
Please be with me in all that I do,
and keep me from all trouble and pain!
And God granted him his request.

The five requests of Jabez: (verse 10)

1. Bless me indeed
2. Enlarge my coast (lands)
3. Let Your hand be with me
4. Keep me from evil
5. Keep me from grief

How outstanding that he called upon God and that God granted his request!

God heard Jabez and we all have the right in the world to believe that He will also hear all others who pray likewise from their heart, for God is no respecter of persons (Rom. 2:11)

(From Dakes Annotated Reference Bible)

Jabez prayed from his heart. Nothing fancy, nothing full of words that a scholar would use, but words from his heart. He prayed with all that was within him. Just like the woman with the issue of blood, he reached out and touched God with all he had….. HIS HEART and FAITH ! God does answer prayers!
